The pomegranate bowl brings the beauty of shape and color of the pomegranate, in a modern minimalistic interpretation. I creates each piece by rolling out the black raw clay, creating the pomegranate shape, and forming it into a bowl. I love the relationship between the black raw clay and the red shining glaze, to me, it enhances the sense of yin-yang, and completeness. Symbols are with us since the dawn of mankind, a sophisticated way to carry much meaning in little saying. The pomegranate, one of Israel's seven species, is a symbol of beauty, love, intelligence, fertility abundance, and immortality, an ancient symbol found in architectural decorations in king Solomon’s palace, and also in eastern religions and cultures, Christianity, and Islam.
